Peterborough Con Man Convicted

A man who defrauded people out of thousands of pounds by selling a water sports experience which never took happened.
39 year-old Marc Corcoran of Medworth, Orton Goldhay, ran a company offering "flyboarding" experiences at either Tallington Lakes, Peterborough, or the Royal Victoria Docks in London.
Flyboarding involves attaching a water jetpack to the feet, which then thrusts the participant into the air and into water.
However, having paid for their experiences, often months in advance, and travelled considerable distances, some staying in hotels the night before, victims attended the designated location and Corcoran was nowhere to be seen.
Many of the victims were celebrating milestones, such as birthdays and anniversaries for friends or family members.
Corcoran was arrested in January last year and charged with 10 offences in May.
He denied the charges and was due to stand trial but pleaded guilty to a single count of fraud, covering all the offences, on January 27.
Earlier this week, Monday (March 2) at Peterborough Crown Court he received a community order for two years with 12 months supervision. He was also disqualified from being a company director for two years and compensation totalling £6,282.15 was awarded to 10 victims.
DC Neil Gasson said Corcoran had been using equipment from a local distributer, which he had also not paid for.
"I feel for all of the victims because they were trying to celebrate milestones, either for themselves or their family or friends, and this ruined days they cannot get back.
Corcoran was unscrupulous in his business activity and had taken full advantage of the victims. I am pleased to see he has finally taken responsibility for his actions and justice has been done for the victims."
