Whirlpool: New Advice To Customers After New Intervention From Peterborough Trading Standards
See Newsagents Robbery In Action
Dramatic new CCTV has been issued by police after a robbery at a newsagents in Peterborough.
Two men entered AA News, in Everdon Way, Westwood, Peterborough, at about noon on Saturday, May 2.
A female member of staff, who was the only person in the shop at the time, was threatened with a hammer and told to hand over money.
She took cash out of the till and was told to put it into a black drawstring back given to her by the robber.
The man then grabbed numerous bottles of vodka and put them into what is believed to have been a gym bag before demanding the member of staff hand over pouches of tobacco.
The man also grabbed some bars of chocolate before running out of the shop with an accomplice who had been acting as look-out.
DC Kevin Poole, who is investigating, said:
"This was a terrifying experience for the member of staff and I am keen to catch the men responsible as soon as possible.
We believe the robbers may have been outside the shop for a short while before they struck so I would appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch.
We hope this CCTV will prompt anyone with information to come forward."
Anyone with information should contact DC Poole on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
