A man who sexually assaulted a girl for nearly four years has been jailed following a trial at Peterborough Crown Court yesterday (Friday, Feb 5th).

Dean Edwards, 42, sexually assaulted the girl between 2006 and 2010.

Edwards, of Gedney Hill near Spalding, pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual assault but was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Detective Constable Craig Doyle said:

"Edwards subjected his young victim to a horrendous ordeal for nearly four years. The victim showed great courage to come forward and I hope the sentence passed today brings some closure for her and her family."
