A 32 year-old Cambridge man who sexually assaulted two boys in the city, and a girl in the USA has been jailed for 16 years.
Benjamin Morris, of Bourne Road, was arrested on December 22 2014, after allegations were made of him sexually assaulting a 14 year-old girl while visiting the USA earlier that year.
Morris travelled to Vermont to visit friends when he befriended the girl and sexually assaulted her. The offence was investigated by Cambridgeshire officers after he was not extradited by the authorities in the USA.
"During the investigation into the offences committed against the girl, officers identified two Cambridge boys who had also been victims.
He befriended the boys at an after school club in 2004 when they were aged eight and nine. He secured a position of trust, began to babysit and sexually abused them on numerous occasions over a six year period.
At a previous hearing Morris pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in penetrative sex with boys under 16 and a separate count of inciting a child under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity."
Morris has been sentenced to 16 years in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for life. He was also made subject of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).
Detective Constable Jo Nicholson said:
"Morris abused his position of trust and showed no remorse for his actions, blaming the victims for what happened.
I hope this sentence will provide some form of closure for the victims and allow them to move on with the rest of their lives."
