Colchester Fireman Returns From Haiti

A Colchester fireman's back home after helping co-ordinate a rescue effort in earthquake-hit Haiti.

Terry Webb told Heart it was one of the longest search operations he'd ever been part of.

"Because of the nature of the environment out there,  the temperature, it wasn't rainy season, because of the type of construction you could see that there were a lot of survivable voids.  Early on we could indicate that the window of survival would be considerably longer than other earthquakes.  We advised the government on this and were able to push the rescue operation four days beyond what normally happens."

Many thanks to Essex County Fire and Rescue Service who provided pictures.
