Man In Serious Condition After Incident In Colchester

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after it's believed he may have been assaulted by a group of men in Colchester.

The victim, who is in his 30’s and lives in the local area, was found unconscious near the Dirty Penguin pub in St Johns Street just before 2.50am yesterday (Saturday, April 11).

He was helped by door staff from the pub who called the emergency services. He was then taken to Colchester Hospital but has since been transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge where he's in a serious condition as a result of his head injuries.

It's believed the man may have been assaulted by a group men. Police are reviewing CCTV and cordoned off the area so forensic investigations could take place. These cordons have now been lifted.

Anyone with any information about what happened is asked to contact Essex Police on 101 or they can contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
