Event Details:Two Sussex Cancer Survivors Are Dressing Up For Cancer Research UK
Amy Bath and Richard Vogues will be donning black tie (her) and ball gown (him!) and handing out flyers at Hove Station on Thursday evening to promoting their Dance For Life Charity Ball.The Ball is being held at the Ralli Hall, Hove on 30th November and all proceeds go to Cancer Research UK and local charity, We Care, a new charity set up to collect unloved prosthetic breast forms and redistribute them to post surgery women in countries where they are not readily available. “The ball is a fantastic way to celebrate life and help others whilst having a great time. We want to raise funds to make a difference to peoples lives” says Amy, who since recovering from breast cancer in 2008 has set up online business, About The Girl, which specialises in helping post surgery women to find stylish, feminine, beautiful swimwear and lingerie.The Ball will be an evening of dancing to the sounds of Sussex Band Dynamite and DJ Lynsey Bartlett from Heart FM. There will also be an auction of promises, tombola, surprise games and plenty of fun. It’s a black tie event so a great chance to dress up and it’s only £18 to attend.

Event details: Sally and Jess have been friends for 8 years. They thought they already shared a lot in common until one disease united them further. Sally was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on the 15th October 2012 aged 24. Then by strange coincidence Jess' son Kobe was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on 8th June 2013, when he was just 16 months old.Type 1 Diabetes is a life altering autoimmune disease. JDRF is the leading Type 1 Diabetes charity who focus on supporting families and diabetics, researching and ultimately finding the cure for Type 1 Diabetes.Uniting Sally's and Kobe’s love for Christmas with JDRF seemed the perfect Christmas-charity-fundraising combination. So, ‘One at Christmas’ was born.By getting the community together with a fundraising Christmas fair featuring: Santa, Santa’s Grotto, local businesses and sellers, entertainment, raffle, food and lots of Christmas spirit - Sally and Jess are hoping to raise awareness for Type 1, as well as donating funds to JDRF this Christmas. Christmas Tree Festival

Event details: Former Coronation Street actor, Kevin Kennedy is to open a Christmas tree festival in Hove on Thursday 28th November.
For three days, St Peters Church in West Blatchington will be transformed into a forest of Christmas trees all beautifully and imaginatively decorated on the theme of Christmas carols and songs by church groups, schools and businesses from the local community.

Father Christmas’s Laughter Laboratory has landed! Father Christmas flew into Churchill Square from the North Pole this weekend to visit the children at Churchill Square and for the first time ever, he will brought his Laughter Laboratory with him, along with a crack team of Elf Toy Technicians.The elves are run off their feet and are calling for thechildren of Brighton to come and be Santa's official Toy Technicians, choosing, testing and packing the toys for Santa's Sleigh. Father Christmas’ Laughter Laboratory is a Christmas grotto with a difference, created by the award-winning team behind the Brighton Rocks! event, which recently took Churchill Square by storm. Expect fantastic fun, toys to test, games to play and lots of laughter. No boringness allowed! Father Christmas and his Laughter Laboratory will be open from November 16th until December 24th. A visit to Father Christmas will cost £4.50 per child and will include a gift and a photo.
The Brighton Christmas Market

Event details: Inspired by the original Christmas markets in Germany, the Brighton Christmas Market will feature European and local producers offering a unique selection of hand-made gifts and food - everything from jewellery, handcrafted goods, Belgium waffles and award-winning British cheeses. Last year the German Bratwurst stall was so popular they were queuing round the block! A great place to find a truly unique present or just sample the delicious food on offer.
The Christmas Tree Giving Appeal

Event details: Christmas would not be Christmas without Churchill Square’s annual Christmas Giving Tree Appeal in aid of Chestnut Tree House hospice which provides specialist palliative care to children and young adults in Sussex.Shoppers can visit the Christmas Giving Tree, select a label, purchase a gift for one of Chestnut Tree House’s special children and hand it in to Customer Services. Last year shoppers at Churchill Square kindly donated a fantastic 359 presents worth an estimated £3760 to children at Chestnut Tree House.

Event details: Possessed is coming to Brighton as part of the Photo Fringe, in conjunction with Miniclick. We’re inviting you to take part in the growing exhibition – bring something along to give up and you’ll receive a photograph of it from their swap shop.Possessed will be setting up at the Phoenix Gallery on the weekend of 23rd/24th November. The exhibition space will show work by both artists and act as a participatory swap shop, offering photos in exchange for personal possessions. The photographic images will be displayed online and within the space. Objects bought along will also be photographed and added to the evolving exhibition. Liberation, or painful process – you decide. A panel discussion on the nature of our connection to possessions will also take place on Saturday 23rd November, 3pm (free entry).
