10-Year-Old Boy Mauled By Dogs

A 10-year-old boy's recovering from serious injuries after being mauled by two Staffordshire bull terriers in Bournemouth.

In a statement to Heart, Dorset Police said:

"Police were called to an address in Grants Road, in the Boscombe area of Bournemouth, at 4.50pm on Saturday, 20 August 2011 with a report from a member of the public that a ten year-old boy had been attacked by two dogs.

"Police and ambulance attended. The boy was taken by ambulance to Poole Hospital before being transferred to Odstock Hospital in Salisbury for treatment to his injuries - which included bites to the legs, chest, face and ears.

"The two dogs, both Staffordshire bull terriers, were seized by police and have since been destroyed with the owner's consent.

"A police investigation into the incident is ongoing."
