18 Year Old Dies In Police Chase Crash

A man's died after being involved in a police chase near the Three-legged Cross.

Two 18 year olds were driving the vehicle on Sunday 18th December at around 1.52am when police tried to pull them over. They then sped off, leading to a car chase.

Officers thought the pair may have been involved in an incident at the BP petrol station in Ringwood at 10pm on Saturday 17th December. A car matching the same description drove off without paying.

Following the car chase by a marked police car, the vehicle then collided with the roadside at Clump Hill on Horton Road.

An 18 year old from Verwood was taken to Poole Hospital with life threatening injuries - he later died. His next of kin have been informed and the coroner notified.

An 18 year old from Ferndown was also injured but not badly. No police officers were hurt in the collision.

It's now been referred to the Police Complaints Commission to investigate.
