19-year-old Hurt In Hit And Run

Police in Bournemouth are investigating a hit and run in the Ensbury Park area of the town.

A yellow taxi mounted the pavement and struck a 19-year-old Poole man on Ensbury Avenue at around 2.40am on Sunday, 12th December 2010.

The pedestrian was left with cuts to his face, knees and hands. He was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Police Constable Rich Elston, of Bournemouth police, said:

“I understand that the victim was walking along the pavement in a westbound direction, when the taxi left the road and collided with him.

“The taxi driver is described as being of Asian appearance, with short dark hair.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this collision, and anyone with any information about the taxi or the taxi driver, to contact me as soon as possible.

“It is not clear why the driver left the road and I would urge the man responsible to do the right thing and speak with the police.

“The victim was fortunate not to sustain far worse injuries and it’s important that I find out exactly what happened.”
