£300 Tortoise Stolen In Weymouth
Police in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a tortoise was stolen from an address in the town.
It happened some time between 10am and 12pm on Friday 18 October 2013 at a property in Bowleaze Coveway.
Those responsible gained access to an insecure greenhouse and stole a female tortoise called Tucker.
Tucker is thought to be 60 to 70 years old and is said to be worth around £300.
She has been micro chipped.
PC Sally Ludlow, of Weymouth police, said:
“The owners are devastated by the loss and urge anyone with any information to come forward.
“I have notified local vets and would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered a tortoise for sale or may have seen one advertised in strange circumstances.”
No arrests have been made.
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 26:196. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
