Attempted Bank Robbery In Southbourne

Detectives in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after an attempted robbery in the Southbourne area of the town.

Dorset Police received a report of an attempted robbery at the NatWest bank on Southbourne Grove at 12.05pm today, Wednesday 24 October 2012. 

Nobody was hurt and no money was stolen during the incident. Detective Inspector Becky Riggs, of Bournemouth CID, said: 

"I am appealing for witnesses and anyone with information about this incident to contact Dorset Police urgently. 

"Nobody was injured and no money was stolen during this attempted robbery. 

"There was no sighting of any weapon and I believe this was the work of a lone offender." 

The offender was a man believed to be wearing a hooded top and dark trousers. Detective Inspector Riggs continued: 

"I am keen to bring this offender to justice. 

"I would encourage anyone who has any information to call us in confidence on 101."
