Bournemouth Teenager Wakes From Coma After Skateboard Accident

A teenager from Bournemouth, who suffered a severe brain injury after falling off a skateboard, has woken from her induced coma.

19-year-old Georgia Fairthorne's mum says she's doing really well - a week after having emergency surgery - asking for food and even her make-up bag.

The accident happened at the beginning of August, while Georgia was visiting her family in Pembrokeshire. The skateboard caught on a stone and Georgia fell, hitting her head on the ground. She suffered a severe bleed on the brain and was placed in an induced coma.

Emma Fairthorne has continued to post video updates on the Facebook page Georgia On My Mind:

One of Emma's earlier videos, calling for parents to make sure their children wear a helmet while riding a skateboard, bike or scooter, has been viewed by more than a million people across the world.
