Boys Hunted After Weymouth Arson Attack

Police in Weymouth are investigating an attempted arson attack in the town.

Someone tried to put a lit piece of paper through a letter box of a house at 7.30pm on Sunday 2 December 2012 at premises just off Louviers Road.

Three boys were seen to run away when the victim opened the door, two ran toward Louviers Road and one ran towards Geelong Close.

The victim, a 51-year-old woman from Weymouth, was not injured.

Police Constable Neil Fitch, of Weymouth police, said:

“This was a nasty and irresponsible act and it was lucky that no one was hurt. The outcome could have been very different.

“The incident was extremely distressing for the victim and I am keen to identify the offenders as soon as possible.

“I am appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward and ring the police on 101 in the strictest confidence.”

The boys are described as white, aged between 13 and 15 and were wearing dark clothing. One boy was wearing a thick woollen hat that was either cream or white.
