Call For Crackdown On Mobiles In Prisons
A victim's rights campaigner from Dorset is calling for devices that jam mobile phone signals to be installed in prisons across the UK.
Kathy Franklin from Blandford reckons the 'jammers', which cost £3000, would stop inmates being able to access sites like Facebook and taunting their victims on the outside:
"It's a small device, the same size as a mobile phone. You just put it into any building t hat you want no mobine phone signal in. Any one that is trying to access teh internet through a mobile phone, the jammer kicks in and it will jam the signal. "
She is now petitioning the government about the jammers.
Justice Secretary Jack Straw says they are currently looking at more ways to stop prisoners getting online.
