Cheaper Bus Travel For More Kids

Using the bus has just got cheaper for more kids in Dorset and the New Forest.

Wilts and Dorset are now allowing children under seven to travel for free and no one will have to pay a full adult fare until they are 19 now, rather than 15.

The ban on child fares before 9am is also being lifted, which means cheaper fares to school.

The changes are based on feedback encouraged by the company from bus users through Facebook over the last few weeks.

Chris Harris from the bus company has been telling Heart they have had to increase some fares to pay for it though:

"To help cover the loss of revenue generated by the changes, the discount offered for young people between the age of 7 - 18 has been reduced from 45% to 30% of the adult fare.

But, we have no intention of raising the price of our other discounted tickets, so there will be ways for frequent bus users who travel as a family to reduce their costs even further."
