Checks On Weymouth Observation Tower

The new observation tower on Weymouth sea front is almost finished.

The Weymouth Sea Life Tower is set to lift 70 passengers at a time up to 170-plus feet above Festival Pier for spectacular views of the resort and Jurassic coastline.

Health and safety checks are now underway.

If all goes well, it's due to open on June 22nd, in plenty of time for the Olympic sailing events which kick off a month later.

The Gondola (above) is expected to be operating at full capacity for most of the summer, particularly for Olympics.

"The Tower will off a birds-eye view of the action unlike anything ever available to sailing enthusiasts before," said General Manager Craig Dunkerley
