Child Attacked On Studland Beach

A 10-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted while playing in sand dunes in Dorset.

The child was attacked by a man on Studland Beach at around 6pm on Friday evening.

Dorset police say he had a harelip and is believed to be aged between 50 and 70. He wore a green jacket, sunglasses and had brown hair. He was also carrying a backpack when the attack happened. A police spokeperson confirmed:

''Police were called to Studland Beach after a report of a sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl.

''The girl was playing in the sand dunes when she was approached by the assailant, who sexually assaulted her.''

Holidaymakers flock to the four-mile stretch of Dorset coastline - which includes a popular naturist beach - every summer.

Three wardens started patrolling the nudist area in 2009 to cut crime after a string of sexual offences were reported at the beauty spot.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information about the latest attack to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers.
