Cyclist Dies After Crash With 4x4 At Bovington
A 78-year-old cyclist has died after a crash with a car near Bovington Camp army base in Wareham.
He was riding along an unnamed road between Gallows Hill and Waddock Cross at about 3.10pm yesterday (Wednesday 29 January) when his bike was in a collision with a Mitsubishi 4x4.
Both the male driver and the cyclist are believed to be from the local area.
A Dorset Police spokesman said:
"As a result of the collision the cyclist sustained injuries and was sadly declared deceased at the scene.
"The deceased male has been identified and inquiries are continuing to locate and inform his next of kin."
Anyone who saw either the cyclist or the car before the crash are asked to contact Dorset Police on 101.
640 men were killed when the South African troop carrier was hit by a cargo ship in 1917.
The 79-year-old man suffered a serious head injury in the Cranmer Road car park in Winton.
