A man’s been attacked in Bournemouth town centre.

The 36-year-old man was near Debenhams on Commercial Road at around 11.40pm on Friday 10th September when it happened.

The victim, from Poole, sustained injuries to his face and a cut to his head.

Detective Constable Natalie Selwood, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said:

“Following an altercation involving three or four men, the victim was attacked by one of the men.

“He sustained his injuries after falling against a window sill outside Debenhams.”

The attacker is described as black, six feet two inches tall, of large build and wearing a red top with numbers on the back.

The attacker then ran off across the square towards Bournemouth Gardens.

DC Selwood continued: “This was the evening of the Bournemouth Light Night Festival, which attracts a number of people to the town centre, so I am hoping that someone may have seen what happened.

“I understand that a woman stopped to help the victim following the attack. I believe she called out for a number of other people to assist and I am very keen to speak to these people.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, and anyone with any information about those responsible, to contact me as soon as possible.”
