Dorset Biscuit Business Is Booming

A Dorset-based biscuit firm run by a third generation of a family called Fudge is having a cracking run-up to Christmas by doubling production and taking on new staff.

Fudges is making almost two million biscuits a week and has hired 25 new workers following record demand for its products.

The firm, founded by Percy Fudge in 1926, is on course to make 180 million biscuits this year, a 50% increase on previous production levels, with an extra shift now added.

Managing director Steve Fudge, the great-great-grandson of the founder, said: "Over the Christmas period we are expecting Britons to munch their way through more than 26 million of our biscuits."
