Family Rescued From Sinking Boat

Both Poole RNLI lifeboats launched after receiving a 'Mayday call' from a family who said their boat was sinking fast in Poole Harbour.

The stricken vessel with 2 adults and 3 children onboard was taking on water, not far from Poole Quay between Dolphin Haven and Stakes Buoy on Sunday (April 3rd 2011) afternoon.

The inshore lifeboat swiftly arrived on scene and found the people and children onboard all wearing lifejackets. The volunteer crew immediately began to evacuate the 25ft Cabin cruiser, transferring the casualties onto the all-weather lifeboat. The volunteer crew on the  all-weather lifeboat checked out the relieved adults and children then took them ashore to Dolphin Haven on Poole Quay.

The inshore lifeboat returned to the troubled vessel and took it back to Dolphin Haven where it was made safe.
