An investigation has begun into a massive house fire in Poole last night.

At it's height, over 50 fire fighters battled to put out the derelict property on Leicester Road in Branksome Woods, and the roof of the building was completely destroyed.

Crews were unsure if anyone had been in the building at the time of the fire, so a full search was carried out of the ground floor last night and of the first floor this morning.

A spokesperson from Dorset Fire and Rescue has told HEART:

"We had to wait for approval from building inspectors to enter and search the first floor of the property, which was deemed unsafe to do so at night. We can now confirm that there are no casualties in the property."

As the property was unoccupied at the time of the fire, it's not yet known how it started. Dorset Fire and Rescue are working with the Police to determine the cause.
