Hundreds of people turned out for the funeral of a teenage war hero in Bournemouth this afternoon.

19-year-old Jonny Allott from Kinson was killed in an explosion in Afghanistan earlier this month.

The military funeral took place at 1pm at St Peter's church in Bournemouth town centre and was followed by a private burial at St Andrew’s Church in Kinson.

Jonny's Dad spoke during the service, he said:

"One of my proudest moments was when Grandmar Gail and Neil came to the first parents day at Catterick during his training.

"This was the moment when he changed from the boy I knew, to the man he then became.

"Jonathan actually found the perfect career, which fulfilled his every need."

The service was attened by the Rifels Sergent for Dorset, Andrew Edwards, who said Jonny was "a very brave man who died whilst leading a patrol in one of the most difficult and dangerous parts of the world."
