Funeral Of Bournemouth Rugby Player

Today's (April 20th) the funeral of Bournemouth Rugby Star, Sam Yarwood.

22 year old Samuel from Parkstone in Poole was recovered from Ullswater Lake in Cumbria on the morning of Wednesday April 6th.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A spokeswoman for Cumbria Police said:

"Police officers are treating his death as a tragic accident after he and a friend fell into the water while canoeing.

"Samuel's friend, a 20-year-old man from Dorset, managed to get out of the water to call for help. He was taken to Penrith Hospital for a check-up but has since been discharged.

"Mr Yarwood's family have been informed, along with the coroner. An inquest will open in due course.''

Club officials say they're "stunned'' at the loss of the young rugby player and have paid tribute to him on their website:

"It is with a profound sense of shock we have to announce the untimely death of Sam Yarwood.

"Sam had joined Bournemouth RFC in the summer of 2010 and first played for the 1st XV against Weston-super-Mare in September. He scored on his debut and subsequently set try-scoring records for Bournemouth in what has proved to be an astonishing but cruelly short career.

"It wasn't just his scoring exploits that endeared him to the club but his engaging personality with a cheeky smile and a sense of humour. He readily made friends with all.''

The statement continued:

"It is appalling to lose someone so young and in the full flush of  youth, and has left everyone at the club stunned. We offer our deepest condolences to Sam's family and all of his many friends.''

His funeral's taking place in Birmingham.
