Police in Ferndown are investigating after a driver failed to stop following a collision with a cyclist.

It happened at around 10am on Friday 30 August near the junction of West Moors Road and Horton Road.

A 24-year-old man from Wimborne was cycling on his BMX when he collided with a grey Vauxhall Astra.

Police Constable Dave Hassell, of Ferndown police, said:

"We believe the vehicle was being driven by a woman aged between 50 and 60.

"I am confident they will undoubtedly be aware a collision occurred at the scene before they drove off and I would urge them to do the right thing and speak with the police.

"This is a busy junction and I believe someone will have seen what happened, or may have more details regarding the car or driver involved.

"The victim has suffered a possible fracture to his ankle as well as cuts and bruises. Significant damage has also been caused to his bicycle."

No arrests have been made and anyone with information is asked to call police on the 101 number.
