Major House Fire in Wimborne

15 fire engines and over 100 fire fighters have spent the night tackling a fire at two thatched cottages in Wimborne.

The semi-detached properties in Cowgrove were both occupied when the blaze first started at around 7pm Friday night.

Firefighters from all over the county worked well into the night to contain the fire.

Incident Commander Craig Baker said:

"When this fire started both properties were occupied, luckily both families managed to escape without any injuries. We believe the fire to have started in the chimney however, this is still under investigation."
