Man Arrested Over Gun Fears

A man suspected of carrying a firearm in Bournemouth has been arrested by police.

Armed officers were called out after receiving reports that a man was driving a silver car around the Lansdowne area, with a gun.

Bath Road in the town was closed off, just after 10:15 on Thursday morning, while the Force helicopter and armed police checked the area.

No shots were fired as a 26 year old man in a silver Lexus was stopped and arrested by police on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

He was later released without charge.

Dorset police have told HEART that no trace of a firearm was found in the vehicle or the area where the car was stopped.
