Officers in Poole are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a man was assaulted outside a hotel in the town centre.

It happened at around 11pm on Saturday 22 June 2013 near The Mansion House Hotel on Thames Street.

The 46-year-old man from Poole was out walking with friends when he was approached by an unknown group of men and punched in the face.

He suffered a fractured nose and a slight injury to one of his eyes in the attack.

Police Constable Will Burnett, of Poole police, said: "This appears to be an unprovoked assault which has left the victim with some nasty injuries.

"He was part of a group of four men who were walking toward Poole Quay on Thames Street when the incident happened.

"I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this attack take place, or has information about those involved to contact Dorset Police.

"This assault happened late at night in a popular area of Poole town centre, and we are certain that this incident will have been seen by passing members of the public.

"I am also keen to speak with the occupants of a red car that we believe stopped for a period of time right next to where the attack was taking place as there is a good chance they saw what happened. All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence."

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101.
