Detectives investigating the alleged rape of a woman in Ferndown are renewing their appeal for witnesses and anyone with any information to come forward – with one man being charged.

The incident, in which a 26-year-old Ferndown woman sustained severe bruising to her head and face, happened in the vicinity of the Tesco supermarket along Penny’s Walk during the early hours of Sunday 1 January 2012.

Detective Inspector Pete Little, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said: “I understand that two women assisted an injured woman shortly after the incident and I would urge them to speak with police – it may be that they have information that will help me with my investigation.

“I would also like to speak with anyone who saw any vehicles parked on the top floor of the Tesco car park. I understand that there was only one vehicle on this level and anyone with any information about it should call police on 101.”

27-year-old Reuben Warren, of Bournemouth, was arrested and charged with rape. He appeared at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 3 January 2012 and has been remanded in custody.
