Mobility Scooter In Hit And Run

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following a collision involving a pedestrian and a mobility scooter in Christchurch.

The incident occurred at about 1.50pm on Monday 30 April 2012 on the High Street outside the Zoo jewellery store.

A 63-year-old woman from Christchurch sustained minor injuries to her head and legs.

Police constable Jim Perks, of Christchurch police, said:

"The victim was standing at the counter of the meat stall at the market when a dark red mobility scooter collided with her, causing her to fall to the ground.

"The rider of the scooter did not stop and continued toward Sopers Lane.

"Following further enquiries, I am now able to release a CCTV image of a lady that we would like to speak with. The picture shows a white woman, about 50-years-old, with long blonde hair, of stocky build, wearing a light coloured jacket. It may be that this lady can help me with my investigation.

"If anyone has any information, please contact me in confidence by calling 101."
