Parents To Fight Phone Mast

Parents in Poole say they will fight plans for a phone mast near their childrens school.

Vodaphone and O2 want to put the mast in Canford Heath Road outside Ad Astra primary.

It would be 15 metres high and there's worries about the health effects.

Helen Mark's son goes to Ad Astra and she told Heart she doesn't think it's even needed. She said: "I don't protest about much but this is one thing.

"I know they need phone masts but within a residential area? Right next to a school?

"All the people I have spoken to the general consensus is that they don't need it and they don't want it.

"There's actually another mast at the Asda garage, so within another six metres. Obviously the concern is that it's 12 metres away from the school playing fields and I know a lot of the other mums feel the same way."

Vodaphone and O2 have told Heart the mast is needed to improve coverage and it won't be a health risk.
