Pensioner Dies In Christchurch House Fire

Police and Dorset Fire and Rescue are investigating how a fire started which killed an elderly woman in Christchurch.

At approximately 8pm on Tuesday, 21st August 2012 fire crews were called to an address in Christchurch. 

Two crews from Christchurch and another from Springbourne were on scene within three minutes, and put off a fire in the ground floor of the house using four sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets. 

One female casualty was rescued from the property and taken to hospital by the ambulance service. 

Sadly, she has subsequently died. 

A joint investigation, by Dorset Fire and Rescue Service and Dorset Police, into the cause of the fire is now under way.
