Police Hunt Armed Gang After Garage Raid

Detectives in Dorset are looking for a gang who robbed an Esso garage armed with a knife, an axe and a baseball bat.

It happened at 10.55pm on Monday 12 December 2011 at the Esso garage along Easton Lane in Portland.

Four men entered the premises and threatened a male member of staff using a knife, an axe and a baseball bat before making off with cigarettes, tobacco and a quantity of cash - police won't say how much.

The member of staff was punched and kicked by the offenders and sustained minor injuries.

The robbers made off but dropped a large number of the cigarettes and tobacco on the way.

Officers have released CCTV images after the raid.

Detective Constable Tracey Cambridge, of Weymouth CID, said:

“We are appealing for witnesses, and anyone with any information about this incident, to contact police as soon as possible.

“We are keen to speak to these four men urgently as they may have information that will assist with the investigation.

“This was a terrifying ordeal for the member of staff and we are determined to find those responsible.”
