Police Investigate Sex Attack

Detectives in Bournemouth are investigating a sex assault on a teenager in the town centre.

A 19-year-old woman was grabbed from behind by a man, dragged into a nearby driveway then sexually assaulted.

It happened at the Richmond Hill end of Wimborne Road at around 2.45am on Sunday, 22 May 2011.

The victim, from Bournemouth, sustained scratches to her face and neck.

Detective Constable Steve Griffin, of Bournemouth CID, said:

“This was an extremely distressing attack on a lone woman as she walked home after a night out with her friends.

“She shouted at the man and was able to escape.”

The attacker is believed to have a Middle Eastern accent and is thought to be around five feet nine inches or five feet ten inches tall.

DC Griffin continued:

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed any unusual or out-of-the-ordinary activity in the Richmond Hill area during the early hours of Sunday to contact me immediately.

“Any witnesses, and anyone with any information about the offender, should call Dorset Police at the earliest possible opportunity.”
