Plane Wheel Collapses At Bournemouth Airport

The nose wheel of an old fighter jet collapsed on landing at Bournemouth Airport.

It happened just after 4pm today (Thursday 5th April) when an old privately owned fighter jet - Sea Vixen - touched down on the runway. The pilot got out ok and was unhurt.

The runway was closed for a few hours, but is now open again.

A statement from Bournemouth Airport says:

"At 4.10pm today there was an incident involving an aircraft landing at Bournemouth Airport, there was one pilot on board who hasn't sustained any injuries.

Passengers travelling do not need to change their travel arrangements as there are no disruptions to operations."
