Thieves have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage after breaking into Weymouth Sea Life Centre at the weekend.

They forced open cash boxes, smashed machinery and stole a laptop. They also vandalised two arcade-style ‘grab’ machines.

PC John Watson, of Weymouth and Portland police said: "The people involved have caused a lot of damage to the park which is expected to cost thousands of pounds to repair, as well as stealing items of value."

The break-in occured sometime between 9pm on Friday 21 May 2010 and 9am on Saturday morning, 22 May 2010.

Part of the park was closed to the public on Saturday so investigations could take place.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Dorset Police on 01202 22 22 22.
