Weymouth Chapel Damaged By Fire

A chapel in Weymouth's been badly damaged by fire, which is being treated as suspicious.

Four appliances from Weymouth, Portland and Dorchester in attendance at a chapel fire at Westham in Weymouth. 

The fire call came in at 5.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 11th April). The first crew was on the scene within three minutes. 

The groundfloor of the chapel was heavily smoke-logged.

Nearby homes were advised to close windows due to the plume of smoke in the area.

DFRS Fire Investigation Officer Steve Waller says: "The cause of yesterday's fire at the chapel in Westham is believed to be suspicious and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service are conducting a joint investigation with Dorset Police."
