Portsmouth Man Arrested After Woman Threatened In Christchurch
A man from Portsmouth has been arrested after a woman was threatened with a metal tool in Christchurch.
At 8.30am on Friday 9 May, Dorset Police received a report of an attempted robbery at the Nationwide cashpoint on the High Street.
A local woman in her fifties had just withdrawn some cash when a car pulled up alongside her. A male passenger jumped out and threatened the victim with a metal object similar to a tyre iron.
He demanded she handed over the money - however, she refused. The offender got back into the car which drove off at speed in the direction of the Priory.
A 51-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested and is helping police with their enquiries.
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 09:66.
