Worlds Biggest Deckchair In Bournemouth!

The world's biggest deckchair arrives back on Bournemouth beach, where it will stay until the end of September.

It arrives on Tuesday 21 August and is taller than a double-decker bus and weighs more than a fully-grown elephant - around three tonnes!

The giant chair was originally created earlier this year by Pimm's to launch the start of the British Summer in March. Its arrival caused a national media sensation, prompting thousands of additional visitors to flood onto Bournemouth's beaches.

Thanks to its success, the massive deckchair has now been donated by Pimm's to Bournemouth Borough Council.

"We had an enormously positive response to the Pimm's Deckchair from both residents and tourists alike back in March, we even had petitions to bring the deckchair back!" said Mark Smith, Director of Bournemouth Tourism.

"So we're delighted to welcome it back as a permanent attraction in the resort to bring a ray of sunshine to the beach."

Kim Araneta, speaking on behalf of Pimm's, commented:

"It is great to see the Pimm's Deckchair back in Bournemouth. The town really embraced the deckchair as their own when we first unveiled it to kick off the start of British Summer Time. So it seems fitting that, in the midst of our Great British Summer, we're able to give the deckchair back to Bournemouth."
