Man Airlifted From Hitchin

A man has been airlifted to hospital following a fall

The East of England Ambulance Service were alerted to the Snooker & Pool Club in Market Square, Hitchin at 2.14pm. Ambulance crews from Letchworth and Stevenage attended the scene.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson, who attended the incident said: "A man who we believe to be in his 60s or 70s had fallen down a flight of stairs and received life threatening injuries. Due to this, the Hertfordshire air ambulance was called in to assist at the scene."

Gary also added: "The helicopter was able to land right outside the snooker club in the market square and this certainly attracted a very large crowd of onlookers. Paramedics worked closely with the doctor from the helicopter before the man was flown direct to the Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridgeshire."
