Cycletta 2012

Around a thousand women have taken part in this year's Cycletta cycle ride event at Woburn Abbey, to raise money for charity.

Cycletta is a series of 40km women only bike rides that aim to inspire female cyclists.

They are fronted by Olympic Gold Medallist Victoria Pendleton who's originally from Stotfold, Bedfordshire.

She told Heart why she loves the fact it's for women only: ''There were lots of mixed participation events that were quite competitive and there were lots of reasons why women might shy away from them if they weren't experienced cyclists. So I wanted to create something that was very accessible and even for someone who hasn't ridden a bike for a while or doesn't have a lot of confidence that it would be something that would be quite appealing.''

Everyone taking part is encouraged to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support to help improve the lives of people with cancer.
