FIFTY thousand pounds worth of glasses, including Cartier sunglasses, were stolen in a raid on a opticians.

The break in happened at Brookmans Park Opticians in Bradmore Green, Herts between 4am and 4.15am on Saturday morning January 8, 2011.

Burglars, who caused about £15,000 worth of damage to the shop as well as stealing the till and a laptop, cut through the metal shutter and smashed the glass front door before making a search of the shop and eye test room.

Damage was caused to the security screen, window and display cases.

It is believed they went to the opticians in a 2008 registered black Toyota Prius before driving off towards Weston Road where they dumped the car.

Detective Constable Andy Boyer, from the Hatfield Local Crime Unit, said: "Have you been offered discounted glasses or sunglasses? Do you know who may be responsible?  We are keen to speak to anyone who may have heard anything unusual during the early hours of Saturday morning. Or did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area before or after the burglary."
