Police investigating the theft of a charity collection box from a shop in St Albans have released pictures of two people they want to trace.

A knife was used to cut the string that was securing the collection box to the counter in Reddies on Catherine Street.

The box was stolen at around 2.40pm on the afternoon of Tuesday 28 August 2012, the day after the August Bank Holiday Monday.

The thief who stole the box ran off with it in an unknown direction.

Hertfordshire's police believe the two people pictured may have seen the incident or be able to help police with their enquiries.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Hertfordshire Constabulary on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference F1/12/2772. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
