Biography

Emma’s potential shone through at a BPA-run Paralympic Potential Day at the start of 2010. Sitting Volleyball really appealed to her for the dynamic team aspects of the sport. She went on to make her debut at the 2010 Kent International in a match against the Paralympic Champions, China, and she now has over 35 GB caps to her name. Her dominant position on the team is Setter.

Her greatest achievement to date was being asked to take the role of team captain which she says was the biggest and greatest honour she could have dreamed of, whilst her first game at the 2010 World Championships also stands out as a memorable moment in the sport.

Prior to her involvement in Sitting Volleyball, Emma used to play Hockey and she also enjoys hand-cycling.

Emma now works as a PE teacher after graduating with a degree in Sports Science from Chichester University in 2004. She also has a diploma in pastoral care. In the future, she hopes to develop her teaching and become head of department.

Emma is classified as a D athlete. Her mobility in both lower limbs was impaired after she acquired the Guillievre Barie Virus when she was 18 years old.
