Man Arrested After Drugs Warrants

Officers from Luton’s Intelligence Unit arrested man after executing two drugs warrants at properties in the town this morning (April 13).

The 30 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and possession of a controlled drug after officers found a shot gun, ammunition, a CS gas canister, cash and a quantity of a substance thought to be crack cocaine during a raid in Midland Road.

A second raid in Hickman Court uncovered more ammunition and a quantity of a substance thought to be cannabis.

The man is now being questioned by officers at Luton Police Station.

Officers from the Local Safer Neighbourhood Team together with members of Luton’s Tasking Unit also assisted in the raids which were based on intelligence provided by the community.

Leading this morning’s operation, PC Rob Field, said: “I would like to thank those members of the community who have given information to the police so today’s operation could take place and as a result was successful in removing another firearm from the streets of our town.

“All information given to the police is used to help build a picture of what is happening in our town and enables the police to complete this type of enforcement.  I would like to reassure anyone who gives information to the police that they can do so completely anonymously and the confidential hotline number is available around the clock for people to leave information.”
