Karishma the painting elephant will be the star attraction at Whipsnade Zoo this weekend as they celebrate Elephant Appreciation Day. Elephant keepers at Whipsnade Zoo have spent the last month teaching Karishma to paint.

She soon learnt that by putting paint on the canvas earns her a banana and has since become quite the artist. Elephant Keeper Elizabeth Callaghan says Karishma is an abstract painter and compared her work to Picasso.

This weekend at Whipsnade Zoo she will be showcasing her work raising money for the Zoological Society of London's elephant conservation projects around the world.
