Investigations are underway into a fire that led to a section of the M25 in Hertfordshire being closed.

The motorway was shut in both directions between Junctions 23 and 25 around Potters Bar on the afternoon of Monday 22 July 2013 because smoke was blowing across the road.

Police and firefighters had been called to Dancers Hill Road in Bentley Heath, Potters Bar following reports of a fire at a number of workshops and garages.

For the safety of members of the public, an evacuation of the immediate area, nearby industrial estate and pub was made. People nearby were advised to keep windows shut, while the smoke dissipated.

Police also put on local road closures at the junction with Wagon Road, Baker Street, Barnet Road and Dancers Hill Road.

No-one was hurt.
