Hatfield: Armed raid

Police have released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with a robbery in Hatfield Town Centre yesterday morning.

The incident happened at just after midnight inside Santander Bank. Two security van guards, who were picking up cash boxes, were approached by two men wearing headwear and carrying a sledgehammer and an iron bar. They attacked the guards before making off on foot with the cash box through the Market Place, towards Queensway.

DC Katy Jackson is investigating the incident and said: "Although the men were attacked during the incident, they suffered very minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment. 

"We are following a number of lines of enquiry and would like to speak with the two men pictured in relation to this offence.

 "If you believe you know who these men are, please contact police as soon as possible via the non emergency number 0845 3300222. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, an independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555111. You do not have to give your name, but could be entitled to a Crimestoppers cash reward."
