Detectives in Luton investigating an attempted robbery have released CCTV and pictures of two men they need to trace.

The incident happened on Tuesday 7 May 2013 at the Premier News shop in Kirby Drive at approximately 7.15am when two men approached the shop. One stood by the door while the other entered the shop armed with a hand gun.

A shot was fired inside the shop before both men left the scene, empty handed, running towards Whitehaven.

The first man is described as wearing black clothing and a black balaclava; the second wore a grey tracksuit and was carrying a florescent drawstring bag.

Detective Constable Rebecca Kitts, investigating has released the CCTV and pictures in a hope that members of the public will come forward and help identify the men involved.

DC Kitts said: “The CCTV and pictures we have released may act as reminder to members of the public who were in the area and who may have seen the two men before the incident. Members of the public may also be able to help identify the two men from the footage and pictures. I would urge anyone who recognises the men to speak to the police, in confidence.”
